Green Power Technology has designed the Portable Hydronic Concrete Heating/Curing and Ground Thawing
System; self contained and trailer mounted - GPT 300. It is designed as an easy to use system with one touch
Auto Start functionality and sophisticated concrete curing capabilities.
The primary design feature highlights concrete curing with the use of patent pending SmartCure System™
designed into the system which runs individual temperature controlled zones, consisting of six to eighteen
700’ zones of glycol filled 5/8” hose, of which six zones are stored in the enclosed trailer on a variable speed
hose reel. Portable Hose reels along with SmartManifolds™ are used to expand the system for larger cures
of up to 25,200 sq. ft. The system can have up to three Removable SmartManifolds™ on board for use on
larger cures. The SmartCure System™ can utilize remote wireless temperature sensors placed in the concrete,
or sensors that are directly connected to the machine; both transmit individual zone area temperatures
back to the unit so the SmartCure System™ can regulate the temperature throughout the concrete.
Custom Concrete Maturity software is written into the SmartCure’s brain. After the Heat Hydration phase
of the cure, and based on the desired concrete strength; the system will gradually allow the concrete to cool
to the outside ambient temperature so as to not shock the concrete. This will save on fuel as the system will
shut down when it knows the cure is complete.
Remote Monitoring allows for real time access information regarding the cure process. It available to
the operator, as well as others such as DOT personnel, should it be required, via the Internet or downloaded
directly from the unit on site. Temperatures can be monitored as well as controlled. Alarms can be sent
regarding power failure, temperatures and other general operation features. A full report of the entire
equipment operation and concrete temperatures can be generated during, or at completion of the cure.
The report can be used to validate the cure to governing authorities (DOT), Engineers, Contractors or Owners.
The system has two circulation pumps, one for the main manifold and one to run the remote manifolds.
It also has two low pressure 159,000 Btu boilers with combined Btu’s of 318,000. The system can be
powered by one or two 120v/20 amp power sources, depending if both pumps are required to run.
An onboard Genset option can be used to power the system and/or as emergency backup- Fail Safe Power.
The boilers and the Genset are diesel fuel powered by the on board 187 gal. diesel tank.
Ground thawing of 8,400 sq. ft. can be accomplished with six of the zones operating at full temperature of
190 degrees output. Removable manifolds can used in combination with the onboard manifold for hard to
reach areas or split thaws. The SmartThaw System™ allows the use of the same curing temperature sensors
to be used in a thawing environment. The sensors are placed in drilled holes throughout the thaw area so
the system can determine the depth of the frost prior to starting the thaw operation. Based on this information,
once the SmartThaw System™ has determined that the thaw is complete, the system will go into a frost
prevention mode and reduce the zone temperatures. This saves an incredible amount of fuel, as often
times the machines will run at full operation well after the thaw is complete and burn unnecessary fuel.
It also eliminates the guess work and will give the operator exact information in determining when the
thaw is complete.
Space Heating capabilities are also incorporated with the use of Portable Hydronic Heaters. They are designed
to hook into the remote manifold connections.
The design/construction/application of this equipment provides a “Green”, Eco Friendly, Low Carbon Footprint
design with aerodynamic features and the use of recycled materials in its manufacturing. Energy efficiency
is also designed into the system with high efficiency fuel components. The application of this equipment will
allow more Fly ash (coal burning by-product), Slag and Silica Fume to be used in concrete by creating warm
weather conditions during winter construction, when these industrial by-products may not normally be used
as much. These industrial by-products, when used in concrete, result in less hazardous waste going to
landfills and provide more Eco Friendly concrete. With the use of these by products, less pollution is
generated to produce concrete, as well as 10% less water is used, providing for an abundance of energy
being saved. These by-products, used in concrete, also provide a stronger and more durable quality product.
